WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT INGRES VERSION 2.6?
This new version of Ingres offers enhanced security and with greater security we can better protect the privacy of individuals and the college. The program menus and general functionality will not change.
Here is what you need to know to get started:
If this is your first time using Ingres since the upgrade to version 2.6, you must create an "Ingres Client Configuration".
Click on the "Start" button (found on the lower left corner of your screen).
Then click on "Programs".
Then click on "Update Ingres Client Configuration".
The following windows dialog will appear:

Enter your Windows 2000 password in each entry field, and then click on the "Set Configuration" button.
Your Ingres client configuration will be created. (This can take a minute - please be patient.)

WHEN YOUR WINDOWS 2000 PASSWORD CHANGES your Ingres client configuration must be updated, as illustrated above.
IF THE INGRES APPLICATION FREEZES or stops responding, there is a problem with the Ingres server. DO NOT re-boot your system. DO NOT close the window. Wait for at least ten minutes. If the application does not resume, contact the Help Desk for assistance (X4357).
IF INGRES FLASHES, THEN DISAPPEARS there is a problem connecting to the Ingres server. Make sure that the connection to the server is working; the Ingres shield icon in the task bar should be green

If it is red, call the help desk for assistance (X4357).
IF YOUR PASSWORDS ARE OUT OF SYNCH... Make sure that your Ingres client password is the same as your Windows 2000 log in password. If you are not sure, follow the instructions above for running the "Ingres Client Configuraton". If this actions fails, call the Help Desk for assistance (X4357).
IF THE CLIENT CONFIGURATION TOOL IS NOT WORKING, there may be a problem with the software on your workstation, please call the Help Desk for assistance (X4357).
INGRES VISUAL MANAGER, if you see the following message from the Ingres Visual Manager :

This is not a problem. UNCHECK the check box and click "Close".
Visual Manager will no longer display the message.
